“Leon and Lori are compassionate co-facilitators in the Way of Council. Both masterful trainers, they gracefully guide you through four weeks in a series of activities, prompts and games to learn how to live the four intentions of Council. I truly benefited from slowing down and connecting with others wholeheartedly.”

Inez

“Taking this course has given me the confidence to bring Way of Council to my family, my cohort in my volunteer organization and with friends. Way of Council has become a calling of sorts for me.”

Kirk

“I loved how Lori and Leon gently led the council as a process teaching and content teaching. The learning was done in an embodied sacred way. I would recommend to any person who desires or is currently a facilitator/leader.”

Courses

Circles of Resilience, Level One The Basic Practice

An introduction to the practice of listening and speaking from the heart, along with social engagement activities and mindfulness processes to help build psycho-emotional resilience. All in the comfort of your home via Zoom.

Heart connection with others is itself an important source of resilience. Stephen Porges, author of The Polyvagal Theory notes that video connection provides the intonation and facial cues that words and emojis in emails or texts cannot. We are not just exchanging content, we are exchanging cues. We are reaching into the ‘other’s’ nervous system to say, “I’m here. I’m present with you. I am listening.” This is the essence of co-regulation, an ancestral survival skill.

Circles of Resilience, Level Two Going Deeper

This next level training is for those ready to explore circle challenges, looking at conflict and what happens when unconscious material enters the circle. The social engagement found in circle provides us with the safety necessary to mature and adapt to uncertainty. We learn to resource ourselves in order to respond rather than react. We can turn toward the disruption in the circle and find our way through to new levels of awareness using the resilience contained within the circle. In this level 2 course we will continue the exploration of crafting prompts and learn to read the field so that we can start with the unknown and find the prompt together. We will continue with home play opportunities and explore more ways of weaving Porges’ polyvagal theory into our practice.

Circles of Resilience for Deep Adaptation: Becoming a Voice in the World

(Prerequisite Level 1)

As we move into an era of pandemics and other environmental crises, as we move toward social and economic collapse, as mental health is compromised, we need each other. In this time of Covid-19, for those who are alone, the isolation can be harmful to the nervous system and the body’s experience encourages negativity bias. The opportunity to connect through the online listening practice of Circles of Resilience is an opportunity to co-regulate each other’s physiological and emotional state as we deeply listen to each other. We then feel safer and become more generous with others, more accessible. With compassion, we tend to the emerging reality. We grieve what’s been lost, we let go of what no longer serves, we reclaim, renew and reimagine what is possible.

Circles of Resilience for Teams, Businesses and Organizations

(Prerequisite Level 1)

Employers and managers who support social connections in the workplace and help employees form strong relationships with one another help build a successful workforce. Strong work relationships help establish and nurture a company or organizational culture that emphasizes respect, loyalty and trust. Social connection provides a sense of cohesion in the office, built on the safety that comes with co-regulation which is essential for cultivating creativity, teamwork and collaboration.
